Adams, Abraham, of Shoreham, Kent. The Psalmist’s New Companion.
Ed.6. London: Thompson and Son, [1757]. 196p.; oblong; engraved. T 174. GB-Cu: MR 250.e.75.5. 42 tunes (4); 25 anthems. <Fm>
Adv. as ‘this day published’, Aris’s Birmingham Gazette, 21 November 1757. No earlier edition has been identified; a copy at C-Tu lacks title page. The Kentish Post, 22 January 1755, announced a 4th ed., which (like the 6th) claimed to contain 41 psalm tunes and 25 anthems, ‘London, printed for John Bird . . . and Peter Thompson’. An unnumbered ed. with the same contents was adv. in Aris’s Birmingham Gazette, 4 October 1756. No 7th or 8th ed. is known, but the Kentish Post advertised eds. in 1758 and 1759.

Adams, Abraham, of Shoreham, Kent. The Psalmist’s New Companion.
Ed.10. London: For C. & S. Thompson, [c.1765]. 190p.; oblong; engraved. GB-Lbl: A.133.a. 44 tunes (4); 23 anthems.
CPM date [c.1775]. But the pattern of annual eds. (see note to ed. 6) suggests an earlier date. The C. & S. Thompson firm was in business c.1763–7, according to H & S. Indexed from ed. 12 (GB-Gm: M18122).
